A Wave user can comment, chat, and share photos and links (virtually) anywhere on the web. At the same time, his friends can follow this activity on his Wave page. For example, it allows you to leave a comment on a Blog and see your friend's response to this comment on the same page OR within your Wave page. You can then continue the conversation on a different blog page, or invite other contacts to join (watch the video presentation, it will make more sense). Wave allows you to do everything you ever wanted, online, using a single account and with remarkable ease of use.
In that sense, wave is similar to Facebook's Connect platform, with two minor differences: (1) it is a true platform, completely decentralized, and allows users to take Google with them to any web site they go to and, more importantly, (2) Wave fits perfectly within Google's existing business model, based on mining personal information in order to deliver specific audiences to advertisers.
So, while Facebook and Twitter are trying to figure out how to make money from their current popularity, Google is releasing a disruptive new service that will generate income from the minute it is launched. Now, Facebook needs to figure out whether it wants to base its own business model on direct competition with Google, or find another way to make money (sell more virtual sheep, maybe?).
And so today, the world's largest advertising agency monitors your online searches and email correspondence. Tomorrow, it has a good chance to monitor everything else you do online as well. Enjoy.

Did you find a solution for youtube via proxy in CN?
i'm enjoying the freedom of youtube, blogspot etc. in the philippines much more then i expected.
2. great overview of the new wave. you put a finger on the real point of it(more eyes watching you online activity), though it does come with some great tools.
I think the main theme is it's much more human like (spell checker tool, playback tool, live editing, etc.) then previous tools we knew.
instead of you manipulating your method of communications into what exists out there: primitive email systmes, primitive IM's, etc. What You get is a dynamic friendly Wave that rolls with your character.
I think both me and you (and other people living in CN) will appreciate that flexibility deeper then others.
Thanks, Yoni. I use Witopia's Personal VPN to get around the Great Firewall. It's good for general anonymity and security as well:
